A fourteen line poem on potential motherhood Katherine DuVal
1. I have been an empty carriage 2. Sunflowers wild in their vases and fields 3. Little feet running up and down the Walmart aisle 4. Shaking, the window frame nearly breaks 5. A grey brain hidden from everyone 6. Teeny tiny rivulets, dye down the drain 7. I filled the cart with cupcake ingredients 8. Did you ever wonder about it afterward? 9. Later in my room I felt the tidal waves 10. Keep the lamp on—please 11. One more chapter. Every page turn was your name 12. Dog-eared and bitten on my tongue 13. I could not put your face to it 14. The fear of seeing someone I never knew.
