you were the sailor

You were the sailor

That I lost at sea

I would look for you

I’d keep the lighthouse on

In case your ship ever found its way

Home

I would wrap that old blue blanket

Around my fragile bones

And wait for you

My sailor

That always came back

Even after the roughest storms

I waited

For something that drowned

Thousands of miles away.
