Backwards Day (to be read from bottom to top –vise-versa)

My memories kept; like whispers in the wind,

Fragments of laughter echoing,

Through the snow, we tread, making the minutes components.

My vital treasures, now cloaked in a shroud.

Scared, like a child in a crowd,

Scouring in reverse through blue, yellow, and white halls.

The answers, elusive, in the chaos of my mind.

Not what I need. PAY ATTENTION!

Alert through islands, just... for.... a needle.

How could I be so blind?

How could I let them slip through my fingers?

How could I not feel the disconnect?

My mind a tangled web, every thought punctured.

Through the tunnels, in the hours of freedom.

Frustration, a storm cloud, dark and thick,

Creeping slow, until the dusk whispered secrets I didn’t know.

Tick, tick, tick... that’s the sound of time running out

1’oclock, 2’oclock, ...4’oclock,

Following the script, day to day, no wonder,

Hours passed like shadows, with no fork in the toaster,

The courtyard swallowed my keys - a thief in the breeze.

Inching toward knowledge, a black hole in the daylight,

In the midday sun, a mountain lion, ignoring my mistake,

The night felt heavy, a blanket of despair,

Illuminating paths once hidden from view,

A fragile flame dancing against dark,

But hope flickered, a candle in the air.
