Canadian Rockies, Town of Jasper, Ravaged by Wildfires

The Jasper wildfires that occurred in the summer of 2024
are the largest wildfires recorded in Alberta, Canada in over
one hundred years. These fires were a result of a combination
of environmental factors such as but not limited to:
lighting strikes, strong winds, dried- out landscapes, and a
three-week stretch of high temperatures. These fires decimated
a third of the town and ravaged one hundred and
twenty-three miles total. The timeline is as follows:

the fires & fell on this historic day

The Jasper Anglican Church, built in 1923
following a 14th century English Gothic blueprint
also succumbed to the wildfires on this day

by a flaming tree
The community comes together to build
a foot high sprinkler line to fend off the flames
Helping each other pick up the pieces
of their own fractured lives
