I see them

—creeping through branches

they know the world

the world’s best-kept

secret.

Velvet paws,

eyes wide

galaxies.

move time itself

bends

to their will,

slow

deliberate

venomous elbows.

Nature threw that in just for the fun of it.

They’re pollinators,

seed spreaders,

ecosystems alive

I watch, did I just giggle?

They blink

they’re in tune with some

cosmic beat,

I already mastered that rhythm.

I’d move like them too, if I wasn’t too busy

blazing

and trialed.
